The Lead Field Trainer develops and delivers hands-on training for employees working in aerial and underground telecommunications construction.

This role trains employees on construction practices, tools, equipment, safety, quality standards, and job responsibilities. The Lead Field Trainer also evaluates employee skills, identifies training needs, and supports career development.

What you'll do

  • Train new and existing field employees through classroom and hands-on instruction.
  • Train employees on aerial and underground construction practices.

  • Provide equipment and tool training, including safe operation and inspections.
  • Conduct refresher training when performance, safety, or quality issues arise.
  • Work with Operations, Safety, and HR to maintain consistent training standards.
  • Maintain training records, assessments, and employee qualifications.
  • Help develop training materials, checklists, procedures, and programs.
  • Provide professional feedback and serve as a positive field role model.


What you'll need

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years of telecommunications construction experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in aerial and/or underground construction.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or coaching field employees.
  • Strong knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and field practices.
  • Ability to evaluate employee skills and provide constructive feedback.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.

Preferred: Experience in a field leadership, supervisor, manager, or training role. Experience in both aerial and underground telecommunications construction.

Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.

Certifications

Depending on assigned responsibilities, certifications may include:

Physical & Work Environment

This is a field-based position requiring regular standing, walking, bending, climbing, and hands-on demonstrations. Work may take place outdoors at active construction sites and may involve heat, cold, dust, noise, uneven terrain, traffic, equipment, excavations, and elevated work areas.

Travel & Schedule

Frequent travel between company locations, training facilities, and job sites is required. Early morning starts, schedule flexibility, and occasional overnight travel may be necessary.

The wage range for Underground Lead Field Trainer is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00
