Full Job Description
Responsibilities:

Performs abdominal, vascular, small parts, pelvic, including endovaginal, and obstetrical ultrasound studies.

Performs transthoracic echocardiograms.

Assists the physician with transesophageal echocardiograms.

Disinfects intra cavity probes; obtains patient clinical information from the patient, physician chart and gives verbal and written preliminary reports of sonogram results to physician.

Maintains records of all procedures performed.

Assists the physician with localizations for invasive procedures under ultrasound guidance.

Schedules patients for echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms and ultrasound procedures.

Instructs and provides clinical supervision to Ultrasonography students.

Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Other Duties:

Functions independently with regard to individualizing each exam relative to clinical history.

Keeps current regarding developments in trends and techniques of diagnostic sonography by reading technical journals, participating in service education programs, attending conferences, etc.

Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

Provides patient comfort (e.g., bedpans, blankets) as required.

Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization .

Position Qualifications:
  • 2 years of previous hospital experience as an ultrasound technologist required.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position.
  • Heartsaver/CPR Certification required.

Education:

Graduation from an approved formal training program in ultra-sound technology and registry eligible required;

RDMS and BS in ultrasound technology preferred.

Job Setting/Physical Demands:
  • Contact with staff, patients.
  • Frequent prolonged standing.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
  • Lifts supplies/equipment
  • Protective clothing worn: gloves, gown.

Salary Commensurate with experience within posted range:

$41.50 to $46.00 per hour
