Position SummaryThe Ultrasound Technologist / X-Ray Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound and radiographic examinations in accordance with provider orders, established imaging protocols, and applicable safety and regulatory standards. This dual-modality role supports timely patient care by preparing patients, acquiring diagnostic images, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with providers and clinical staff. The technologist delivers compassionate service while protecting patient privacy, promoting radiation safety, and maintaining equipment readiness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform ordered diagnostic ultrasound examinations, which may include abdominal, pelvic, vascular, small-parts, and other studies within the technologist's documented training and approved scope.
- Perform routine diagnostic X-ray examinations using proper positioning, exposure techniques, collimation, shielding when appropriate, and radiation-safety practices.
- Verify patient identity, physician orders, relevant history, pregnancy status when applicable, and examination requirements before beginning a procedure.
- Explain procedures, answer appropriate questions, provide clear instructions, and protect patient dignity, comfort, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and completeness; repeat images only when clinically necessary and in accordance with radiation-reduction principles.
- Recognize urgent or unexpected findings and promptly follow established escalation and communication procedures without independently diagnosing the patient.
- Document examinations accurately in the electronic health record and/or imaging system, including required measurements, annotations, technical notes, and completion status.
- Transmit images and supporting documentation to the interpreting provider or radiologist and assist with follow-up requests.
- Maintain examination rooms, supplies, ultrasound probes, detectors, and related equipment according to infection-prevention and manufacturer guidelines.
- Complete required quality-control checks, report equipment concerns promptly, and coordinate service as directed.
- Follow applicable policies, accreditation standards, radiation-safety requirements, HIPAA requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support patient flow, scheduling, clinical teamwork, and other duties within training and scope as assigned.
Required Qualifications- Completion of accredited educational programs in diagnostic medical sonography and radiologic technology, or an equivalent combination that meets applicable credentialing and licensure requirements.
- Current registration or certification in diagnostic medical sonography through ARDMS or an equivalent credentialing organization accepted.
- Current ARRT certification in Radiography, or an equivalent credential accepted.
- Current state license or certification required to perform radiography in the work location.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an employer-approved provider.
- Knowledge of ultrasound and radiographic anatomy, patient positioning, image optimization, infection prevention, and radiation protection.
- Ability to operate imaging equipment and related clinical information systems safely and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications- One or more years of experience performing both ultrasound and diagnostic radiography in an outpatient, hospital, or medical-office setting.
- Multiple ARDMS specialty credentials, such as Abdomen or Vascular Technology, based on the services offered.
- Experience with PACS, RIS, and electronic health record systems.
- Bilingual communication skills based on patient population needs.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and position patients for extended periods.

- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with ultrasound scanning.
- Availability to work the assigned schedule, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or coverage at multiple locations based on operational needs.
Pay Range: $80,000 - $83,000 per year
