Ultrasound Supervisor

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the American Heart Association for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and Stroke, and most recently, coronary artery disease.

Additionally, Aiken Regional provides comprehensive healthcare services such as behavioral health (Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health), emergency medical care (main hospital and ER at Sweetwater), orthopedic surgeries, maternity, rehabilitation services(Hitchcock Rehabilitation Services), imaging, and wound care.

The Sonography supervisor is responsible for management of all clinical and non- clinical operations within the Ultrasound department. Performs Ultrasound imaging as per MDC policies and procedures. Formulates policies and procedures as per industry standards which contribute to the mission of the organization. Maintains operations for appropriate modality accreditations. The Sonography supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for operations within the department to include the ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of others. Under the direction of a radiologist, performs Ultrasound scans at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical procedures that requires independent judgment and ingenuity to apply prescribed sonography for diagnosis. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times.

Duties:
  • Manages operation within department to include all aspects of staffing, scheduling, onboarding employees
  • Manages direct reports payroll, including approval of time off as per policy
  • Manages direct reports attendance as per policy
  • Provides work schedules in a timely manner
  • Maintains necessary accreditations within department as directed by Director or designee
  • Recommends and follows best practices for department as well as maintaining imaging protocols for best diagnostic quality for interpretation
  • Oversees the process for hiring new employees. Assists with the maintenance of job descriptions for all positions
  • Assures consistent, timely flow of information to team members. Notifies staff of any new or updated policies.
  • Improves departmental performance by assessing problems and finding solutions. Emphasizes high quality and takes action to improve. Shows foresight and encourages new ideas.
  • Implements, coordinates, and monitors departmental quality improvement projects.
  • Conducts meaningful performance planning and review with associates. Develop performance plans and professional goals.
  • Monitors adherence to policy, procedures, and practice guidelines.
  • Holds quarterly staff meetings.
  • Maintains adequate supplies according to budgetary restraints and corporate contracts.
  • Serves as a patient and family advocate. Investigates concerns, informs Director, and recommends a corresponding course of action. Interviews patients and family to evaluate services rendered.
  • Consistently achieves departmental goals for productivity management.
  • Demonstrates competency for all modalities employee is registered as well as maintaining current licensure
  • Assists in interpreting departmental and administrative policy and procedures and helps to ensure compliance.
  • Obtain quality diagnostic images, present cases to the radiologists and provide written impression of findings that will aid in rendering a diagnosis for the patient
  • Interact with students in professional and educational manner
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures for probe sterilization(Trophon)
  • Monitors and reports on all patient care, safety, medication, technical, and employee incidents.
  • Assures department compliance to all regulatory and accrediting agencies to include Joint Commission, DHEC, and ACR.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:
