Job Description

Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Engineering Technical Services Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with other site divisions as well as other Technical Services groups.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate active participation in the management of the operation to ensure that health and safety, environmental, production, cost and cash flow targets are achieved
  • Be responsible for strategic, long- and short-range mine planning, and geotechnical engineering as well collaborating with ore control and geology
  • Manage a large number of professionals including surveyors and engineers which provide technical support for a large open pit operation
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with other site divisions as well as other Barrick Technical Services groups
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related degree required
  • Minimum ten (10) years of mining experience in progressive supervisory or technical roles required
  • Two (2) years of experience in a project management role preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, risk analysis, problem solving and analytical skills required
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Outlook required
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle preferred
  • Experience in engineering software (AutoCAD, Whittle) required
  • Capability to lead, mentor, and develop technical staff required
  • Competence in mine economics, evaluation techniques, and budgeting for mine operations required
