Job Description

Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Operations General Supervisor at our Turquoise Ridge operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the safe implementation and execution of the mine plan
  • Direct and manage all mine production activities including planning, budgeting, staffing, cost containment, and profitability
  • Develop and manage business improvement projects
  • Collaborate with geology and engineering in the development of achievable mine plans incorporating safe design criteria and optimal mining configurations
  • Collaborate with mine maintenance in creating PM schedules, prioritizing repair work and implementing reliability improvements
  • Manage, coach and lead teams engaged in mining to ensure that production targets and schedules are met
  • Support operational objectives by minimizing risk and maximizing value through contract administration of contractors with focus on value, cost reduction, and risk management
  • Ensure production outcomes result from safe work practices and in full cooperation with all other work groups
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of eight (8) years progressive experience within the mining industry with five (5) years' direct supervisory experience required
  • Five (5) years Open Pit experience in a leadership capacity required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, related field of study, or relevant experience preferred
  • Understanding of Open Pit safety and production targets required
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes regular weekend coverage required
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written required
  • Excellent safety, performance and attendance records required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to show empathy and build rapport required
  • Excellent planning, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills required
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with business software applications such as RIMS, LMS and Oracle/Markview applications required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential function of the position required
