Job Description

Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Geologist at the Turquoise Ridge Underground mine. This position is tasked with executing drill programs to derisk the mine plan, expanding current reserve and resource, identifying new and economically viable ore zones that will have a significant impact on the mine's earnings and growth, and incorporating data and interpretation into the geologic model. The ideal candidate will possess a background using Acquire and Leapfrog mining software and capable of working with a diverse team of mine geologists, technical services staff, and diamond drillers. This role requires an individual who is safety driven.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive zero harm workplace through stop work responsibility and other safety programs in place.
  • Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments (Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Exploration, Safety and Finance).
  • Build on technical knowledge for geological mapping, drilling, and logging programs. Ensure best practices are utilized, understood, and followed.
  • Weekly underground and surface field work and drill inspections.
  • Design, implement, track, drill programs and interpret results, mentor and train junior geologists.
  • Engage with resource team to ensure accurate, fit for purpose geological models and mineral estimations are provided, ensuring that all available data are leveraged to maximize value in every model.
  • Participate in the design, preparation and implementation of proposals, cost tracking, cost estimates and expenditure requests for production drill programs.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field required
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in underground mine geology preferred
  • Experience leading technical teams with strong interdepartmental communication skills required
  • Familiarity with Deswik, Leapfrog, and Acquire software preferred
  • Proven ability to communicate optimally; both verbally and in writing required
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision required
  • Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
