About the role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a TS&D Engineering Specialist located in Lake Jackson, TX. This role will serve under Dow's Industrial Solutions portfolio. The selected candidate will join a high performing R&D team of engineers and scientists collaborating on Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Innovation. The candidate will have ample opportunity for TS&D/R&D project leadership and direct customer engagement.

Responsibilities:
  • Designs and develop novel surfactant formulations for complex reservoirs through expertise in Surfactants and their application in EOR to current and prospective customers
  • Designs and execute experimental methods related to EOR to expand on Dow offerings in relation to competition
  • Builds surfactant structure-property relationships for both Gas and Water injection EOR applications and deploy learnings to advance Dow's EOR platform
  • Supports and lead TS&D projects working in highly cross-functional teams including R&D, sales, and marketing
  • Supports ideation and pipeline filling for a global R&D/TS&D project portfolio, and as applicable, generate intellectual property
  • Leverages broad market, customer, and application knowledge and in-depth understanding of competitive technologies to solve complex technical issues
  • Participates in the development and implementation of IC strategy for a business or platform, and fully participates in the development of technology maps for projects and leads area of IP development
  • Serves as principal author on papers and presentations and presents at industry conferences. Document work in company-internal research reports. Write external papers for targeted technical marketing venues, including prominent trade journals and conferences
  • Manages the technical project pipeline for a business, and translates competitive knowledge to useful insights for internal stakeholders, and works closely with marketing to proactively lead effort to identifying new high-value opportunity spaces with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides effective TS&D to numerous strategic accounts for the business, responds to technical questions of customers and other Dow/market-facing businesses
  • Monitors the competition and market trends relative to Dow intellectual capital positions and integrates the information into group activities and projects


Qualifications
  • A minimum of PhD in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, Chemical engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or an applied science related field (Ex. Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant working experience preferably in Reservoir engineering, Subsurface oil field Operations and related EOR Product development environments


Note: This position requires approximately up to 10% travel.

Skills
  • Innovation and technical acumen: Expertise in Chemical EOR, including surfactant phase behavior for complex reservoirs. Proficiency in surfactant characterization analytical techniques. Expertise in reservoir engineering and surface and subsurface oilfield operations. Expertise in reservoir modeling, oil field data modeling, and machine learning a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to develop and commercialize novel technologies. Excellent communication skills. The ability to effectively convey ideas, findings, and proposals to multiple stakeholders both internally and externally. Active Listening for understanding customer needs, collaborating with teams, and responding thoughtfully.
  • Excellent Collaboration Skills and Operational Efficiency: Ability to both lead and be a team player, in planning and executing projects with cross-functional teams and resources to achieve maximum productivity towards decisions or milestones in a timely manner.
  • Documentation: The practice of building and maintaining relationships with colleagues, industry peers, and other professionals to exchange information, support career development, and uncover new opportunities or collaborations. Strong track record of innovation documentation in journals and patents
