Job Title: Traveling Project Manager - Skilled Trades

Position Summary

The Traveling Skilled Trades Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple skilled trades projects at various locations. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is experienced in managing field teams, subcontractors, and clients while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage all phases of assigned skilled trades projects from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure that all work complies with contractual requirements, design specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily field activities, including labor, materials, and subcontractors.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring professional communication and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular project updates and status meetings with clients, engineers, and leadership teams.
  • Manage change orders, RFI documentation, and project correspondence in a timely and professional manner.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise field teams, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure performance meets company standards.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to field staff to promote professional growth and teamwork.
  • Partner with Safety, Quality, and HR teams to ensure compliance and maintain a positive jobsite culture.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Monitor job costs, labor hours, and material expenses to maintain profitability.
  • Approve invoices, track purchase orders, and assist with vendor negotiations.
  • Prepare project reports, forecasting documents, and performance summaries for management review.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies and participate in site safety inspections and audits.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Department to ensure compliance with OSHA and company-specific safety standards.
  • Lead post-incident reviews or corrective action plans when necessary.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of project management experience within skilled trades (mechanical, electrical, millwright, or similar).
  • Proven track record managing multiple job sites or large-scale industrial/commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Procore, or other project management software.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents, estimating, and job costing.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work abroad up to 75-90% of the time. Working abroad/travel will be focused on short term or long term project assignments at various customer locations.
  • Must be flexible to travel on short notice and work extended hours during peak project phases.


Physical Demands
