Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurses (L&D RNs) for 13-week travel assignments in Aberdeen, Washington.
This role requires strong maternal-child nursing experience across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery. Candidates should be confident managing laboring patients, providing postpartum care, supporting newborn care, and responding to maternal or neonatal changes in condition.
A minimum of 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience is required. Candidates must hold an active Washington RN license and current required certifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum.
• Perform maternal and fetal assessments throughout labor.
• Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and uterine activity.
• Assess labor progression and identify changes in maternal or fetal condition.
• Support patients during spontaneous labor, induction, and delivery.
• Assist physicians and other providers during vaginal deliveries and obstetric procedures.
• Prepare and support patients requiring cesarean delivery.
• Provide immediate postpartum assessment and nursing care.
• Monitor maternal vital signs, bleeding, pain, and recovery after delivery.
• Provide routine nursery and newborn care.
• Perform newborn assessments within scope of practice.
• Support neonatal stabilization and resuscitation when needed.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments according to provider orders.
• Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
• Support breastfeeding, bonding, and family-centered care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech.
• Participate in shift handoffs and interdisciplinary communication.
• Follow patient-safety, infection-control, and maternal-child nursing standards.
• Respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
Required Experience
Candidates must have:
• Minimum 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Strong Labor & Delivery experience
• Postpartum nursing experience
• Nursery / newborn care experience
• Experience independently managing actively laboring patients
• Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills
• Ability to recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute-care environment
Required Licensure & Certifications
Candidates must have:
• Active Washington State Registered Nurse license
• Current BLS / BCLS
• Current ACLS
• Current PALS
• Current NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program
All required licenses and certifications must remain current throughout the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong candidates may also have:
• STABLE training
• Meditech experience
• High-risk Labor & Delivery experience
• Electronic fetal monitoring experience
• Cesarean-section circulation experience
• Newborn stabilization experience
• Previous travel nursing experience
• Experience working in community or regional hospital settings

Schedule Requirements
• Night Shift
• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend and holiday coverage may be required based on department scheduling.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced Labor & Delivery RN who can confidently care for mothers and newborns across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery.
You should have strong fetal monitoring and maternal assessment skills, solid newborn-care experience, and the ability to remain calm and effective during urgent obstetric or neonatal situations.
