Job Description:

Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.

As a Transportation Manager, you will be supervising International Transportation North American Ocean Export activities for parts and component flows. The logistics team provides end-to-end integrated logistics solutions designed, deployed and executed to support Caterpillar's global footprint of manufacturing plants, suppliers, distribution centers and dealers. Capabilities include:
  • Packaging Design and Returnable Container Management
  • Inbound International and Domestic Transportation
  • Logistics Network Operations - including Manufacturing Parts Nodes, Site Logistics and Cross Dock Operations
  • Outbound Logistics - International and Domestic: Specialized Cargo and Product Distribution Solutions

What You Will Do:
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations for international ocean export out of North America for parts and components flows
  • Managerial oversight for ocean export team of 5 employees
  • Drives problem resolution with Caterpillar facilities and approved Service Providers with regards to transportation services (ocean freight forwarders and brokers, ocean carriers, and dray providers)
  • Governs the operational execution, performance, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of ocean carriers, ocean freight forwarders, and dray carriers.
  • Conducts business reviews with providers in relation to transportation services.
  • Implements operational and technological solutions to reduce performance gaps within the transportation network
  • Deploys process improvement initiatives and improved transportation methods to support Caterpillar's quality, velocity and cost objectives
  • Coordinates impact analysis and implementation of cost-effective solutions with Providers
  • Develops processes and ensures adherence to transportation standards and business rules
  • Provides analytical insights and reporting to leadership and internal customers to generate fact driven solutions and performance metric reporting


What You Have (Basic Requirements):
  • Transportation - MFG: Knowledge of transportation; ability to transport materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers.


  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.


  • Continuous Transformation: Knowledge of evolving the business to remain competitive; ability to understand, adapt oneself to, respond to and proactively seek changes and innovation in the business environment to improve the competitive advantage of an organization.


  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years' experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain or similar field
  • Demonstrated strategic thinker able to plan and optimize most effective methods for movement of freight
  • Previously lead projects and high impact initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven customer focus and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with Microsoft based applications: PowerPoint, Excel, Access (specifically Excel application functionality experience with data analysis V Lookups, and pivot tables)
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with Transportation software, such as InforNexus, BlueYonder TM

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
