PositionSAS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Transportation & Environmental, Health and Safety Department as the
Corporate Manager who will report to the Head of Human Resources. The individual in this role is responsible for managing the company's fleet of vehicles, ensuring safety, efficiency, compliance and cost-effectiveness across the entire fleet. Additionally, the individual will oversee workplace safety, environmental compliance, and employee health, ensuring operations meet regulatory standards while minimizing risks. Responsibilities for the Corporate Transportation & Environmental, Health & Safety Manager- Fleet Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day fleet activities, including vehicle scheduling, driver coordination, and route optimization
- Maintenance and Repairs: Manage preventive maintenance schedules, coordinate repairs, and ensure vehicles meet safety standards
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to regulations from agencies such as DOT, OSHA, driver and vehicle licensing, registration, training and maintain safety records.
- Cost Management: Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs, insurance, lease payment and total cost of ownership, while optimizing fleet utilization.
- Procurement and Disposal: Oversee vehicle acquisition, specification and end-of-life disposal, including vendor negotiations and cost analysis, communicating these transactions to SAS Senior Leadership and the SAS insurance company.
- Team Leadership: Supervise drivers, mechanics, and administrative staff, balancing operational priorities with personnel management.
- Safety Audits and Hazard Assessments: Maintain and continue to enhance safety & environmental awareness training programs in all applicable safety competency areas for factory, distribution center, and support areas, with an emphasis on behavior-based safety, increasing hazard awareness, and supporting regulatory compliance and internal environmental management programs
- Environmental Compliance: Analyze and assess plant safety through regular inspections and audits to drive safety resource allocation and initiatives to reduce injuries. Responsible for inspecting the facilities to detect existing or potential environmental health and safety hazards, including identification of opportunities to reduce safety and regulatory risk
- Training and Compliance: Work closely with plant leadership to assure that practices and procedures are planned and executed. Educating employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures and proper equipment use through workshops, toolbox talks and ongoing training programs.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Respond to workplace accidents, analyzing root- causes, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Emergency Response Planning: Develop and coordinating plans for fires, chemical spills, or other emergencies to ensure rapid and safe responses.
- Policy Development and Continuous Improvement: Creating and updating safety and environmental policies, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of safety and sustainability.
Qualifications for Environmental, Health & Safety Corporate Manager- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering or related technical field preferred
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences
- At least 5-years' experience in the required fields
- Knowledge of environmental requirements, regulatory standards and industrial safety practices
- Strong knowledge of vehicle operations, maintenance, and safety regulations.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle operational exceptions and emergencies.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
