Stantec is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation group in British Columbia. In this role, you will support a critical transportation project with a strong focus on the production of traffic management plans and sub-plans to safely mitigate the impact of construction. This position requires proficiency in AutoCAD, familiarity with traffic management planning and road safety, comfort working from a field office on a client site, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment. Please note that this is a defined term role with an anticipated end date in June 2027 that may be extended dependent on project requirements and client needs.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and distributions of high quality, accurate and timely deliverables including traffic management plans, 2D drawings, site layouts, reports, minutes, communication logs, change management, and other required documentation.
- Conduct material quantity take-offs, analysis/calculations, hand sketches, CAD drafting, and other EIT support tasks related to traffic and transportation engineering as required.
- Conduct site visits to oversee traffic control measures have been implemented as per Traffic Control Plans and monitor traffic operations to determine the effectiveness of the Traffic Control Plan
- Assist in reviewing drawings, drafting technical reports, memorandums and other technical documents as required.
- Participate and coordinate project team activities and interact effectively with Clients, Contractors, Engineers, Project Managers, and other consultants on site.
- Reviewing and signing control plans.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Foundational understanding of transportation and traffic engineering design and relevant drafting and design software including AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with traffic management planning ands subplans and highway safety
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively discuss project components with internal and external stakeholders is essential.
- Strong organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.
- Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.
- Strong analytical and communication skills including both technical writing and oral communication.
- Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, technical writing, presentation, and other software including MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant transportation engineering experience in a professional environment. Previous experience supporting projects on site is considered an asset.
- Registered P.Eng. with EGBC.
The selected candidate will conduct work from a field office on a client site. Reliable transportation to and from the client site is required. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$78,900.00 - $114,400.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
