Full Job Description
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Transportation Engineer, PE to our Transportation team based in Plano, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to grow into a Project Manager role while contributing to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and transportation infrastructure projects for public-sector clients across Texas.

Position Summary:
The Transportation Engineer, PE supports the design and delivery of roadway and transportation infrastructure projects in Texas. This role contributes to project planning, engineering design, and coordination efforts while working closely with project managers, technical specialists, and clients to deliver high-quality, compliant transportation solutions.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform geometric design of roadways, including roadway hydrology and hydraulics, signage and pavement markings, and traffic control plans.
• Develop engineering studies, schematic designs, and final design documents for highways, intersections, and roadways, including plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Assess project requirements and collaborate with the Project Manager to define and manage scope, budget, schedule, and staffing needs.
• Serve as a Support Manager and lead assigned tasks under indefinite deliverable and program management contracts.
• Direct, assign, and review work of project design team members and coordinate project documentation internally and externally.
• Ensure adherence to company QA/QC procedures and applicable engineering standards.
• Manage and mentor junior engineering staff.
• Assist with proposal development, client pursuits, and identification of potential teaming opportunities.
• Participate in meetings with clients and project stakeholders as required.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant transportation engineering experience.
• Proficiency with MicroStation.
• Familiarity with applicable transportation engineering manuals, standards, and regulations.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multitasking, deadline-driven environment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with TxDOT and local Texas municipalities.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience assisting with proposal writing and business development efforts.
• Experience with the design of a variety of project types including reconstruction, widening, operational, safety, multi-modal, and maintenance projects.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to perform field observations and site visits as required.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
• Primarily office-based work environment with periodic field visits.
• Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions during site visits.
• Collaborative, multidisciplinary team setting.
