Transportation Practice

What We're Looking For:

Join Michael Baker International's Transportation Design team in our Harrisburg, PA office and work on impactful interstate, highway, and municipal transportation projects. As a Transportation Engineer, you'll contribute to innovative roadway designs using the latest 3D design tools while collaborating with a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team. This role offers exposure to a wide range of technical challenges-including roadway corridor design, stormwater drainage, and environmental permitting-and provides opportunities for career growth in technical leadership, project management, and client service. What You'll Do:

  • Support the design and production of highway construction plans for PennDOT and other DOTs, design-build, and municipal projects
  • Perform roadway and drainage design tasks including geometric/corridor design, stormwater systems, H&H analyses, and 3D corridor modeling
  • Prepare design calculations, quantities, construction cost estimates, and technical documentation
  • Assist with environmental and drainage-related permitting coordination and preparation of supporting exhibits and reports
  • Collaborate with project managers, task leaders, and multi-disciplinary teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget goals
  • Communicate with clients and participate in project meetings as needed
  • Assist with proposal scope development and staff-hour estimates
  • Coordinate and mentor junior staff and technicians to ensure quality and timely deliverables
  • Occasionally visit project sites and report findings
  • Maintain and grow technical knowledge through training and professional development

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University or College
  • Professional Engineer's (PE) License in PA or ability to obtain through reciprocity
  • 5+ years of experience in stormwater drainage design, H&H modeling, and/or roadway design
  • Experience related to hydrology/hydraulics, stormwater management, and/or environmental permitting is a plus
  • Proficiency using modeling and design software such as Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, HEC-RAS, HY-8 is a plus.

Compensation:

The approximate compensation range for this position $78,000 - $146,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
