Your future position: Transportation Engineer II

About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a transportation engineer in our Peoria, IL offices. This position will primarily consist of design engineering efforts with field exposure on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. A knowledge of designing roadway, drainage, and underground improvements with Geopak/OpenRoads Designer is preferred. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman's diverse disciplines and offices within the transportation and construction fields.

What your day-to-day will look like
  • Design Roadway, Drainage, Underground Utility, and Infrastructure improvements using Geopak/OpenRoads Designer.
  • Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
  • Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
  • Complete engineering plans and specifications using IDOT Standards.
  • Assist senior staff with client management, project pursuits, and business development.
  • Assist project engineers and managers by making significant decisions on a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery.
  • Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies.
  • Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining job site records of daily reports, job meeting minutes, approved drawings, and pay requests as needed.

Education/License Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering

  • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman's service area (own transportation).

  • Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • E.I.T (Engineer in Training) certification.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) license.

Compensation - The pay range for this role is $83,000 to $100,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
