Full Job Description
Our Transmission Project Engineer designs, manages, and oversees electrical transmission systems to ensure safe, efficient, compliant and reliable delivery of power from generation sources to the grid. In this role you will also manage contracts, scheduling, financials, materials, subcontractors and provide technical engineering support to the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Analysis: Design, develop and interpret high-voltage transmission systems, substations, and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes such as IBC, AISC, ASCE, ASME, and API.
  • Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and oversee transmission projects from concept through construction, including scheduling, budgeting, allocation and daily job log. Generate and maintain a contract compliance matrix.
  • System Studies: Perform load flow, short-circuit, and stability studies to evaluate system performance and identify necessary upgrades.
  • Equipment Specification: Select and specify transformers, circuit breakers, conductors, and other transmission components.
  • Construction Oversight: Supervise contractors and field teams during installation, testing, and commissioning of transmission lines and substations. Ensure production goals are being met.
  • Manage Construction Documents: Project submittal log, Requests for information log, Transmittal log and approvals. Document changes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure projects meet local, state, and federal regulations, including NERC TPL standards and interconnection requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, project managers, utilities, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success and system reliability. Support correspondencewith project owner.
  • Troubleshooting and Optimization: Identify and resolve technical issues, implement system upgrades, and optimize transmission network performance.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Education: 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience with transmission engineering, including project management and Professional Engineer system design.
  • Certifications: Valid Drivers License, OSHA 30, Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or other relevant certifications such as NACE, SBE, or CCIE may be preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Primavera P6, CMIC, knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetic fields, and high-voltage systems
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities; attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
