What You'll Do:

    • Partner with the General Manager and Rocanville Senior Leadership Team to develop and execute a comprehensive site training and workforce capability strategy aligned with operational and business priorities
    • Provide leadership for technical training, onboarding, regulatory and compliance training, leadership development, and workforce development initiatives
    • Lead the Training Department team to deliver safe, effective, efficient, and high-quality training solutions that support operational readiness and continuous improvement
    • Oversee and optimize the site's Learning Management System (LMS) and Learning Content Management System (LCMS) to support training compliance, qualification tracking, content governance, reporting accuracy, and user effectiveness
    • Ensure training programs, records, and processes meet applicable government, legislative, safety, and company requirements
    • Maintain site training governance, including training matrices, audit readiness, training assurance processes, and onboarding standards
    • Advance a strong learning culture by integrating training with operational excellence, human performance improvement, risk reduction, and frontline leadership effectiveness
    • Support workforce planning by identifying current and future capability requirements related to changing technology, automation, digital tools, and evolving mining practices
    • Maintain a visible field presence and build strong working relationships with employees, supervisors, and leaders to keep training practical, relevant, and aligned with site needs
    • Partner with site leaders to strengthen frontline leadership capability, supervisor effectiveness, and emerging leader development
    • Collaborate with corporate training and development teams to align site execution with enterprise standards, systems, and strategic priorities
    • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, consultants, educational institutions, industry associations, and external training organizations to leverage leading practices and strengthen site capability
    • Use data, metrics, and insights to evaluate training effectiveness, identify capability gaps, and drive continuous improvement in learning outcomes and compliance performance
    • Champion safe work practices and ensure safety, product quality, cost effectiveness, environmental responsibility, and operational discipline remain central to all training programs and department activities
    • Lead the Training Department team by fostering employee development, building team capability, and delivering safe, effective, efficient, and high-quality training solutions that support operational readiness and continuous improvement
    • Lead and support change management efforts related to new systems, equipment, processes, and organizational capability requirements
    • Budgeting and resource allocation - training rooms/equipment, external service providers


What You'll Bring:

    • 8+ years of progressive experience in an industrial, manufacturing, mining, or chemical processing environment, including significant experience in training, workforce development, learning systems, or operational capability building
    • 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams, programs, or site-wide learning and development initiatives
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Engineering, Business, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered
    • Formal training, certification, or demonstrated experience in adult education, facilitation, instructional design, organizational learning, leadership development, or change management is considered an asset
    • Strong understanding of training systems, competency management, and regulatory compliance requirements within a heavy industrial environment
    • Experience working with LMS/LCMS platforms, digital learning tools, training analytics, and compliance tracking systems
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization, from frontline teams to senior leaders
    • Proven ability to build, coach, and develop a high-performing, cohesive team
    • Strong facilitation, communication, stakeholder engagement, organizational, and planning skills
    • Ability to align training strategy with business priorities, operational requirements, and long-term workforce capability needs
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and insights to improve training outcomes and support strategic decision-making
    • High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and ability to lead through change in a complex operating environment
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with learning technologies, reporting tools, and digital training platforms is an asset
