Job Requirements

The Training and Simulation Program Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the training and simulation programs for the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The Manager manages one time, on-going and annual programs at the center, utilizing their working knowledge of standardized patient methodology and medical simulation education to work with the center team. Works under minimal supervision in planning, directing, controlling and monitoring project activities to meet cost, schedule, technical and contractual obligations. Provides oversight and execution of the training and simulation programs within the organization.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Coordinates all training and simulation events for the center.
  • Manages all aspects, including daily operations, of the simulation program.
  • Conducts needs assessments, and in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Operations implements and evaluates appropriate programs.
  • Ensures that all simulators and task trainers remain in proper working condition.
  • Ensures that the Training and Simulation Center is in compliance with all simulator warranties.
  • Implements and evaluates a tracking system and inventory of all supplies, equipment materials.
  • Implements a comprehensive scheduling system for the training and simulation center.
  • Reviews statistical information from the simulation event, identifies trends, and provides information to the Director to review and consider improvement.
  • Remains up-to-date on standardized patient methodology and program trends.
  • Remains up-to-date on simulation methodology, theory and trends.
  • Maintains project database (actions, correspondence, deliverables, etc.)
  • Analyses project status, orders and progress based on project data and writes reports.
  • Gathers and prepares project spending profile for Director of Clinical Operations.
  • Completes invoicing, reconciles payment received and discuss anomalies in payment with the Director of Clinical Operations
  • anages and supports the daily operations of the simulation training program.
  • Collaborates with C-STARS, MASTRI and the UMB Schools on research and development, curriculum and program administration
  • Assists in all strategic planning teleconferences, conferences, and meetings associated with improving the program.
  • Liaisons with vendors to obtain current market research information on specific equipment to support operational requirements.
  • Provides assistance to the Program Management at each center with train the trainer activities and basic troubleshooting for the purpose of training new simulation staff.
  • Plans, coordinates and executes the support of conferences, conventions, and workshops to include logistics and registration with budget.
  • Plans and executes the details revolving around the marketing and public awareness of events, exhibits, and conferences such as invitations, publications announcements, letters and printed materials.


Work Experience

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with focus in education and training required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' related experience or project management role or a combination of the two required.
  • Experience with training and simulation preferred.
  • Prior medical military experience a plus.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Requires the knowledge of curriculum development and conference planning.
  • Demonstrated highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
