Your Opportunity
Stantec's Infrastructure team is looking for a Traffic Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) Lead to join our Prairies and Territories Infrastructure Business Center. In this leadership role, you will help develop, manage, and grow our TPTE practice while supporting the delivery of transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation safety, and multimodal transportation projects across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
Reporting to the Operations Lead, you will play a key role in building trusted relationships, supporting a collaborative and blended-team approach to project delivery, and helping our people grow through coaching, mentorship, and career development. This is an opportunity for a collaborative, client-focused leader who is passionate about technical excellence, people leadership, and strengthening our transportation practice across Western and Northern Canada.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, manage, and grow the TPTE team across the Prairies and Territories in alignment with Infrastructure's strategic direction and business priorities.
- Support supervisors and business leaders with recruitment, retention, workload planning, staff development, and assignment of qualified team members to Infrastructure and other BOU projects.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, accountability, inclusion, and high-quality project delivery.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development support to direct reports and team members, including performance guidance, goal setting, and development planning.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development, marketing, proposals, and pursuit strategies for key transportation opportunities.
- Lead and support transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation safety, and multimodal transportation projects across multiple jurisdictions.
- Contribute to project delivery in assigned project roles, including discipline lead responsibilities, project execution planning, quality management, schedule and budget performance, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Collaborate with Business Center leadership, other leads, project controls, team leads, and practice leaders to identify priorities, develop future project managers and leaders, and support effective project management practices.
- Support workload forecasting, resource planning, backlog management, and utilization planning for team members.
- Facilitate team meetings and regular communication to promote employee engagement, continuous improvement, technical growth, and shared success.
- Champion Stantec's Health, Safety, Security, and Environment culture and ensure HSSE remains a priority in all activities.
- Support and promote quality management, risk management, technical reviews, QA/QC processes, and continuous improvement of design standards, procedures, and delivery practices.

- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build trusted relationships, coach others, support employee development, and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Experience in traffic impact assessments, transportation planning, functional design, transportation master plans, transit and multimodal transportation planning, and transportation safety.
- Strong understanding of transportation project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and client expectations.
- Experience with proposal preparation, business development, client relationship management, and pursuit strategy development.
- Familiarity with local, provincial, territorial, and federal regulatory requirements, standards, guidelines, and approval processes.
- Proven ability to work across multiple offices, disciplines, business centers, and geographies while managing competing priorities.
- Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead, participate in, and support multidisciplinary project teams with a focus on technical excellence and successful project outcomes.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products and an ability to work effectively with project management and resource planning tools.
- Positive, team-oriented approach with a sincere desire to collaborate as part of a regional and global organization.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, planning, or a related field. A graduate degree would be considered an asset.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation safety, multimodal transportation, project delivery, business development, and/or people leadership; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Professional registration, or eligibility for registration, in a related discipline is preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
