Role OverviewOur client is seeking an
Application Support Engineer to provide L1/L2/L3 support for a critical technology platform within a fast-paced financial services environment. This hybrid position is based in
New York and offers an opportunity to combine production support, technical troubleshooting, application monitoring, and software development.
The successful candidate will work closely with business users, internal technology teams, and external partners to maintain system stability, investigate issues, and support ongoing enhancements. The role also provides opportunities to develop and improve internal tools and applications.
This position would suit an experienced application support professional with an interest in expanding their technical and development capabilities in a high-performance environment.
Responsibilities- Provide L1/L2/L3 production support for business-critical applications.
- Work closely with business users, development teams, and third-party providers to investigate and resolve issues.
- Monitor application performance and proactively improve monitoring tools, thresholds, and alerting.
- Investigate incidents and ensure issues are identified, communicated, and resolved appropriately.
- Manage application configuration and reference data changes.
- Contribute to software development and enhancements across applications and supporting tools.
- Implement smaller development changes initially, with opportunities to take on more complex development work over time.
- Support a fast-paced environment where responsiveness, accuracy, and reliability are essential.
QualificationsEssential- 2+ years of experience in application or systems support, preferably within financial services.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications.
- Some programming or software development experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a small team.
- Flexibility to support business requirements that may occasionally involve non-standard working hours.
Preferred- Experience supporting complex or high-availability applications.
- Strong attention to detail when working with applications, configuration, and data.
- Experience working in Agile or structured development environments.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with financial services applications or market-facing technology.
- Knowledge of industry-standard messaging or integration protocols.
- Experience with C# or a similar programming language.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.

Compensation: $120,000 to $125,000 annually
Compensation is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
