About the Role

The Position

We are seeking a Trader to join our Cross Asset Electronic Trading (XAET) team. This role leverages a range of electronic execution protocols to systematically trade across multiple asset classes, with a primary focus on macro markets, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Responsibilities include executing and monitoring trades, tracking market moves and evolving market structure, developing and testing trading strategies, and producing performance and risk reporting. The successful candidate will partner closely with other Traders, Portfolio Managers, and our Data and Technology teams to optimize execution quality and strengthen risk management. A strong interest in financial markets and market structure, combined with a continuous-improvement mindset, is essential.

Wellington Management's Trading Department employs approximately 60 traders globally across all markets. Our investment and trading activities are conducted on an industry-leading internally developed software platform, which we believe creates a meaningful competitive advantage. We are also supported by an in-house research and analytics team who provide in-depth, action-oriented insights into our trading capabilities and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Execute systematic trades across macro markets and other asset classes using electronic execution protocols and continuously enhance execution workflows/strategies to improve outcomes, efficiency, and risk controls.


  • Partner with Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts, and Strategists to translate investment views and portfolio objectives into executable trading plans, informed by real-time monitoring of market moves, liquidity, and venue flow.


  • Maintain deep expertise in market structure and the electronic trading ecosystem (venue microstructure, regulation, and technology), adapting execution approaches as conditions evolve.


  • Build strong relationships with brokers, market makers, and trading venues to improve market access, liquidity sourcing, and execution quality.


  • Collaborate with Traders, Trading Research & Analytics, and Trading Technology to improve tools/data and deliver ongoing performance and risk reporting.

The base salary range for this position is:
USD 120,000 - 225,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington's total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
