The Town Traffic Engineer reports to the Assistant Town Engineer. The primary job duties of this position include:

• Provides high-level supervision, mentorship and direction to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, including Traffic Engineering, ITS Traffic Operations, and Signal Field Services; manages hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary recommendations while fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.
• Administers the division's budget, including complex grant management, long-term fiscal planning for regional infrastructure projects and operating budget.
• Serves as the Town's primary expert for the Town Engineer, the Town Manager, Mayor, Council and the Planning Commission on transportation, development and traffic related issues; attends hearing and provides expert testimony and technical guidance.
• Manages complex projects, systems work processes and compliance, monitoring project completions status and approving high-level project deliverables.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, and regulations; develops and implements Town transportation and traffic standards, policies, processes and procedures;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation or Traffic Engineering, Master's Degree preferred;
• 10+ years of extensive knowledge and progressively responsible experience in traffic/transportation engineering within an urbanized municipal agency or related public agency;
• 6 years of supervisory/managerial experience;
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS

• Professional Engineering (P.E.) License, PTOE Certification Preferred;
• Valid Arizona Driver's License.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.
