Full Job Description
Job Summary: To build or repair all types, sizes, and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Assemble and try out complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
- Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and machine tool feed and speeds.
- Heat treats as required.
- Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools performing required inspection before, during and after machining.
- Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade.
- Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.
- Sets up, runs off and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same.
- Maintains a safe and organized work environment.
- May assist machinists and millwrights in punch press overhaul.
- May work with product designers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required:
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic math aptitude.
- Attention to detail, with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proactive communicator who collaborates well with others.
- Team-oriented, reliable, and safety-minded.
Education, Experience, and Training:
- High School diploma or GED
- 5 years experience in tool and die making

Salary Minimum: 100,000
Salary Maximum: 110,000
