Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Rehabilitation/Therapy Services is responsible for establishing and promoting the growth and excellence of the Department of Rehab Services to include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy. The Director is responsible for community, interdepartmental and intradepartmental integration of departmental patient-care services. The Director is responsible for the operation of the departments to include management and coordination of clinical activities, fiscal management, and quality patient care. The Director shall assume overall responsibility for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the departments. The Director shall perform all job duties and tasks in accordance with national and state professional governing guidelines and state practice act, rules, and code of ethics.

What you will do in this role:

  • Supervise, orient, train, evaluate and counsel department employees to improve their job performance and to maintain high standards of care.
  • Establish center specific policies and procedures for the department and assures employee compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with a medical records system that: is accurate and concise; meet governmental and third-party payor requirements; minimize duplication; reflect a clear picture of the resident's problems, the therapist's intervention, and the resident outcomes.
  • Communicate and coordinate department functions with other services in a constructive manner that helps build team rapport and effectiveness.
  • Communicate effectively with administration regarding department programs, goals, objectives, problems and successes.
  • Assure that the department complies with corporate and central policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively to the public and to medical personnel outside the center regarding the therapy services offered by Reliant Rehabilitation.
  • Participate in utilization review, quality assurance, resident care conferences, admission meetings, department head meetings, community education planning, and rehabilitation conferences.
  • Responsible for revenue and expense controls to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Establish goals and objectives for the department and implement activities to accomplish them.
  • Ensure clinicians report required MDS information accurately and on time.
  • Identify, achieve, and maintain quality of services.
  • Ensure ongoing MD and patient satisfaction.


What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy, or a Master of Science or Master of Arts in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited institution required.
  • Licensure as a Therapist in the State of Tennessee preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous healthcare management experience at an Assistant Director level, or greater strongly preferred.
  • Acute care experience strongly preferred.
