Job Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and enterprising senior engineer to join our Power Solutions & Controls Development (PS&CD) team in Mossville, IL. As a Senior Validation and Development Engineer, you will serve as an experienced individual contributor leading exciting projects that will support electrification development and validation testing at Mossville Technical Center.

Laboratory testing primarily includes battery cell, module, pack development in addition to energy storage system, microgrid controllers, and hydrogen fuel cell systems. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in laboratory operations and/or prototyping environments, coupled with a strong commitment to rigorous governance and excellence in product development and an ability to think creatively while problem solving. Developing strong peer relationships, collaboration with global teams, and effective communication to stakeholders is also key to being successful in this role. Electrification development and testing work is dynamic and fast paced with opportunities to grow and develop. This role has an opportunity to champion safety processes, develop and define standard work, and be a key contributor to the effective and efficient management of our test assets and test articles.

What you will do:
  • Champion laboratory safety and contribute to the establishment of standard validation and development processes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across the test facility to maintain and enhance validation and development capabilities.
  • Function as the experienced SME for mechanical integration of electrified products in test setups
  • Coordinate and lead build and rework activities across the validation and development team
  • Liaise with shared facility resources to achieve team objectives related to fabrication, rapid prototyping, assembly, etc.


Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited curriculum with professional work experience in a related role.

  • Project Management: Extensive knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Product Testing: Extensive knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.


Top Candidates May Have:
  • Experience with laboratory testing and/or product development in electrical systems, preferably Li-Ion battery.
  • Experience with prototyping / proof-of-concept build activities.
  • Experience coordinating or leading personnel and/or activities in a hands-on environment.
  • Ability to think creatively and deliver pragmatic solutions when solving challenging problems.
  • The ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
