JOB TITLE

Test Engineer

Reliable Controls Corporation is seeking a Test Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah.

DUTIES: The Test Engineer provides electrical, mechanical and instrumentation support for industrial

projects such as processing plants, gas compression facilities, and mine processing facilities. The primary

focus of this position is field work associated with pre-operational testing, commissioning, and start-up of

an industrial facility. This individual will work in a team-oriented environment under demanding and

challenging conditions associated with critical project deadlines and heavy workloads. The Test Engineer

requires diverse electrical, mechanical and instrumentation expertise and experience in maintenance and

operations.

(1) Create and execute fit-for-purpose processes to ensure installation and functionality of every piece of equipment and instrumentation for all systems and sub-systems [20%];

(2) Responsible for various engineering or technical assignments [10%];

(3) Perform instrument calibration and testing and is responsible for accuracy [10%];

(4) Perform testing, troubleshooting and repair of electrical controls, panels, instrumentation, power distribution systems, and control system networks [10%];

(5) Perform inspection and verification activities associated with the Company's work packages [10%];

(6) Expert understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and relay ladder logic [10%];

(7) Comply with and enforce company safety, environmental, governmental policies, and regulations as

they apply [10%];

(8) Provide hands-on support for commissioning/start-up activities [18%]; and

(9) Perform such other related duties and responsibilities as assigned [2%].

[Note: This role requires extensive travel-up to 80%-to remote domestic and international locations for on-site project assignments. When assigned to an on-site project, you must commit to a rotational work schedule for the duration of the project. Rotation schedules may include: 3 weeks on site / 1 week off; 4 weeks on site / 1-2 weeks off; 4 weeks on site / 2 weeks off; and 8 weeks on site / 2 weeks off. Project duration varies based on scope and operational needs.]

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associate's degree in Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience. A foreign equivalent is acceptable.

Experience: 36 months of experience working as a Test Engineer or related occupation.

Other requirements:

(1) Must possess a valid driver's license (or be eligible to obtain one within 30 days of the date of hire);

(2) Must have an acceptable driving record;

(3) Demonstrably excellent working knowledge of: (a) National Electrical Code ("NEC"); (b) International Society of Automation ("ISA"); (c) National Fire Protection Association ("NFPA"); (d) Application Programming Interface ("API"); (e) Underwriters Laboratories ("UL"); (f) Analog instrumentation loops; (g) PLC ladder logic, digital and sequential logic programming methods, and process related closed-loop control system; and (h) electrical and instrumentation (calibration, testing, verification, etc.);

(4) Demonstrably excellent skills in: (a) communication; (b) technical writing; (c) daily reporting; and (d) presentations; (5) Demonstrable ability to: (a) calibrate various instruments; (b) read and understand electrical schematics, P&ID, and other drawings; (c) follow instructions and preestablished guidelines to perform the function of the job under minimal supervision; and (d) commission and start-up an industrial plant; and

(6) Demonstrated commitment to safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Working on-site in heavy industrial environments mostly but not limited to mining and gas industries.
  • Extreme temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture
  • Slippery and/or uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; and at heights.
  • Hours of operation and employee schedules vary based on each project and may require irregular or extended hours and travel for project completion.
  • Travel, including both domestic and international.
  • Frequent standing, occasional bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, balancing, and reaching.
  • Exposure to noise, vibrations, well-treating chemicals, glycol, methanol, gasoline, natural gas, and liquid hydrocarbons.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position requires frequent travel, estimated at 50% or greater, including both domestic and international assignments.
  • Candidates must have the flexibility to travel on short notice and for extended durations, including weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Candidates must possess, or be eligible to obtain, a
    passport and any required travel visas to support global operations.
