Full Job Description
Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. Support the development and documentation of test plans to validate hardware, firmware, and software designs and implementations by the development teams in collaboration with design engineers, architects, and product managers. Creates test environments as needed and executes test plans, which may include electrical validation testing, feature evaluation, system integration testing, and interoperability testing, then documents the test results and any related secondary analysis and findings. Contributes to the creation, modification, and management of test automation scripts. Assists as needed in the analysis, re-create, and debugging of complex customer field issues.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Execute validation test plans to assess hardware, firmware, and software functionality, performance, compatibility, and reliability through White-box and Gray-box testing, including verification of interoperability within overall solution.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to create custom test setups using a combination of products, off-the-shelf test equipment, and custom equipment.
  • Contribute to the automation of validation processes to improve efficiency and repeatability.
  • Assist in the creation of detailed test plans from technical product and/or feature requirements, in collaboration with design engineers and product managers.
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings in a clear and concise manner. Analyze test results and work collaboratively with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to debug embedded designs and identify root causes of failures to resolve issues.
  • Assist in the re-create and troubleshooting of customer site issues.
  • Making sure to keep the lab equipment used for official testing with proper calibration status
  • Keep the lab space and workstation organized and follow 5S organization.
  • Building HW prototypes
  • Product comparison and teardown analysis


Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Associate's degree or Technical Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Proven experience in AC-DC and DC-DC switch mode power supply testing.
  • Hands on knowledge on dimmers, plug loads, relays, sensors and general lighting building blocks/ components.
  • Hands-on experience with analog and digital (mixed signal) system testing, and trouble shooting
  • Hands-on experience on building prototypes containing SMT and through hole component
  • Experience in managing test plans and ability to handle multiple test related activities simultaneously.
  • Physically present at the job site. (not a hybrid or remote position)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge and experience with operating equipment: oscilloscopes, DMM, data logger, network analyzer, power analyzer, programmable AC source, thermal chamber, spectrum analyzer, and EMC equipment.
  • Experience with low voltage and line voltage test environment
  • Aware and understanding of related industry EHS safety related training


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or related field)
  • 2+ years experience in hardware validation, software/firmware QA, or a similar role
  • Experience in lighting or lighting controls industries or similar fields.
  • Relevant UL/CSA safety standards, and FCC part 15 certification knowledge
  • Experience with wired networks and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, RS-485, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Experience with industrial / IoT wireless networks and communication protocols (Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Bluetooth, BLE, Proprietary, etc.)
  • Experience with high volume electronics manufacturing


The range for this position is $75,500.00 to $135,900.00 USD. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant's experience and geographic location.
