We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our Manufacturing Operations team. This role will be responsible for developing comprehensive technical documentation for aerospace systems and products, coordinating First Article Builds, and serving as a documentation expert for Zone 5 Technology product systems. The ideal candidate combines strong technical writing abilities with practical manufacturing experience and an understanding of aerospace industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, write, and update technical documentation for aerospace systems and products, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and usability across diverse audiences
- Coordinate, conduct, and document First Article Builds with production staff, capturing critical process information and lessons learned
- Collaborate closely with engineers, systems subject matter experts, and production stakeholders to create, review, and maintain comprehensive documentation
- Interpret engineering CAD models and translate technical designs into clear, actionable procedural documentation for manufacturing teams
- Ensure strict compliance with aerospace standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, FAA, EASA) in all technical documentation outputs
- Learn and become an authority on Zone 5 Technology product systems, maintaining deep technical knowledge of our products and processes
- Continuously improve documentation processes, tools, and best practices to meet evolving aerospace industry requirements and customer expectations
Required Qualifications - 1-2+ years of experience writing technical documentation and working in a manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical schematics
- Proficiency with documentation tools, specifically PICO MES
- Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and understanding of their role in production environments
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to explain complex technical information clearly to audiences ranging from shop floor operators to engineering leadership
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects and priorities under tight deadlines
- Background or exposure to Technical Writing, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Communications, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with AS9100, FAA, and EASA documentation requirements
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience coordinating or participating in First Article Inspections (FAI)
Pay Range by Level:
Level I - $76,000 - $86,000
Level II - $86,000 - $96,000
