Full Job Description
Boston Dynamics is seeking a highly organized Technical Trainer to design, deliver, and manage training and documentation for the Atlas Data Operations (ADOPS) team and external product operators. This role requires experience creating content and delivering technical subject matter to both technical and non-technical audiences, a passion for learning new technologies quickly, and the ability to build strong relationships with a world-class engineering team to stay current on product enhancements.

The Atlas Data Operations team consists of robot pilots who teleoperate robots and produce data to train Atlas, which is focused on advancing machine learning and manipulation capabilities. Your ideas will change what robots can do!

Schedule/Working Hours
  • Monday - Friday: 40 hours per week, regular hours (e.g., 9 AM to 6 PM).
  • Periodic flexibility is required to cover first and second shift or provide off-hours support to maintain continuous operations.


Core Responsibilities
  • Training Design & Delivery
    • Design, maintain, and continuously improve the ADOPS Pilot Onboarding and Levelling Process. Training includes hardware, software, and process content.
    • Lead and administer interactive, instructor-led training for ADOPS Robot Pilots. Occasionally the Technical Trainer will provide training to other parties including partner organizations and external product operators.
    • Deliver training on commercially available BD product-lines, software, APIs, and solution infrastructures.
    • Coach and assess ADOPS Robot Pilots, providing feedback on best practices to improve techniques.
    • Perform periodic pilot skills assessments to determine systemic gaps or regressions, collect feedback to track knowledge retention, and inform continuous improvement efforts for all training programs.


  • Documentation & Process Management
    • Act as a Data Ops process specialist, owning the document change control process for all Data Operations documentation.
    • Develop and maintain high-standard technical training content, including task playbooks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), presentations, and hands-on exercises.
    • Codify best techniques and practices from veteran pilots and engineers, translating them into required documentation and training materials.
    • Facilitate clear communication channels between Data Ops, Engineering, CL&D, and other partner teams to align on documentation, project status, and operational needs.


Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience in formalized instructional systems, curriculum management, or technical training leadership (including military equivalents). High School diploma or GED required.
  • Proven experience as a technical trainer, documentation specialist, or teacher, with demonstrated success communicating complex technical subject matter to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience prompting generative AI to create and optimize polished documents from source content
  • Demonstrated ability to curate and develop curriculum for supporting Instructor-Led Training programs.
  • Self-directed with proven experience managing small projects or operations in a fast-paced R&D, lab, or technology-focused environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency; familiarity with robotics concepts, VR systems, or machine learning data pipelines is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable wearing and operating VR headsets, motion capture suits, and handheld VR controllers for extended sessions.
    • Note: VR use can be physically demanding and may cause discomfort or motion sickness for some individuals.
  • Practical hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical systems, enterprise network environments, or familiarity with Linux command line interface/Python is a plus.

The pay range for this position is between $73,000 to $101,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental vision, 401(k), paid time off and a annual bonus structure.
