Job Responsibility Details:- Investigates, troubleshoots, documents, assesses and resolves software and hardware problems on PCs and network systems; refers major and unresolved software problems and hardware malfunctions to appropriate technical specialists and/or vendors; follows up on such matters as required
- Installs and configures new and upgraded software and hardware; implements specific applications such as the automated booking system, security, malware and virus protection
- Provides training and support to library staff and customers on various software applications, including library-specific software and other general software application in an individual or small group setting
- Prepares and maintains a variety of records such as procedures manuals, files and statistical reports; amends and updates operational manuals; recommends policies and procedures related to the use of equipment and software
- Collaborates with other library staff on IT projects, including planning, designing, and implementing new systems and technologies
- Develops and maintains the library's website, including designing and coding web pages, ensuring website functionality, and updating website content
- Keeps abreast of developments in computer software and hardware; advises on cost and benefits of products as requested; estimates costs for future systems and maintenance and equipment replacements
- Performs other related duties as required.
Additional Qualifications Information:- Considerable knowledge of library information systems, including integrated library systems (ILS), discovery layers, and library-specific software applications
- Considerable knowledge of practices and procedures related to the installation and operation of computer hardware and software used in the work
- Considerable knowledge of the policies and procedures governing computer operations as related to the work performed
- Sound knowledge of telecommunication systems, audio-visual systems, and networking technologies
- Sound knowledge of web development technologies such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (CMS)
- Sound knowledge of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to the work performed
- Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles
- Ability to investigate, document, assess and resolve hardware and software problems and to liaise with vendor representatives and technical specialists on the more complex problems
- Ability to identify problems, solutions, improvements and additional needs related to the operation of the systems
- Ability to design, develop, and maintain library websites, including creating web pages, graphics, and multimedia content
- Ability to setup test environments, identify test plan and conduct quality assurance on the work performed
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical library staff and customers in a clear and concise manner
- Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work
Additional Requirements Information:- Completion of a certificate program in computer sciences or related discipline at a technical or post-secondary institution, plus sound experience in IT technical support, preferably in a library setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Required Licenses, Certificates and Registrations:Valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia

Tuesday 8:45am - 4:15pm
Wednesday 8:45am - 4:15pm
Thursday 1:45pm - 9:15pm
Friday 1:45pm - 9:15pm
Saturday 9:45am - 5:15pm
Days of rest are Sunday and Monday.
