OVERVIEW

The Technical Services and Design Manager leads the technical design, engineering support, estimating support, proposal development, system programming standards, commissioning support, and technical documentation function for FCS Integration Solutions. This role supports sales, preconstruction, project delivery, field operations, and quality assurance.

This position is responsible for ensuring that proposed and delivered solutions are technically sound, constructible, programmable, scalable, supportable, and aligned with customer requirements and FCS standards. The Technical Services and Design Manager also provides leadership to Security Engineers and other technical resources

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads technical services, design, engineering, programming support, commissioning support, and technical escalation for electronic security, access control, video surveillance, intercom, credential, and related integration solutions.
  • Develops and reviews system designs, bills of materials, equipment selections, labor assumptions, proposal scopes, technical narratives, drawings, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, programming requirements, and commissioning documentation.
  • Supports sales and operations teams with preconstruction planning, site walks, budgeting, estimating, proposal development, value engineering, technical clarifications, and customer presentations.
  • Reviews customer requirements, drawings, specifications, existing system conditions, standards, and operational needs to develop accurate and constructible system solutions.
  • Provides technical direction for access control, video management, intercom, credentials, door hardware coordination, networking requirements, servers, storage, licensing, power, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Ensures BOMs align with approved system architecture, manufacturer requirements, project scope, customer standards, programming needs, commissioning requirements, and field installation needs.
  • Oversees production and review of CAD drawings, as-builts, device layouts, panel elevations, rack layouts, wiring diagrams, point-to-point drawings, and closeout documentation.
  • Establishes design and programming standards, documentation templates, naming conventions, drawing standards, submittal expectations, programming expectations, test plans, and technical review processes.
  • Oversees technical startup planning, including programming approach, database setup, controller configuration, camera configuration, server and storage requirements, licensing, network coordination, and commissioning sequence.
  • Coordinates technical turnover from design and estimating to project execution so Project Managers, field teams, and engineers understand scope, assumptions, system architecture, programming requirements, and commissioning expectations.
  • Provides technical escalation support for complex programming, configuration, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Reviews project readiness for commissioning, including installed device status, network availability, licensing, server and storage readiness, panel/controller status, programming completion, test plans, and customer acceptance requirements.
  • Supports final system testing, owner training, punch list resolution, as-built documentation, and transition to service.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops Security Engineers and technical support resources.
  • Supports training plans, certification roadmaps, and technical development for engineering and field teams.
  • Performs quality control reviews of estimates, BOMs, drawings, programming plans, commissioning plans, and technical proposals before release

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Construction Management, Drafting/Design, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic security systems, access control, video surveillance, system architecture, structured cabling, and integrated security platforms.
  • Strong ability to develop technical designs, BOMs, proposals, system narratives, wiring diagrams, programming strategies, and implementation documentation.
  • Strong understanding of system programming, configuration, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and technical startup.
  • Strong understanding of project estimating, labor assumptions, material takeoffs, scope development, exclusions, alternates, and change order impacts.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, Division 27/28 requirements, door hardware schedules, network diagrams, and customer standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to customers, sales teams, operations teams, engineers, and field personnel.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, organization, and quality control skills.
