Responsibilities

  • Manage complex accounting tasks for timely general ledger closing.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and fixed asset processing.
  • Conduct research and analysis on significant revenue and expense elements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley documentation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on initiatives including process improvements and regulatory compliance.
  • Coach and delegate tasks to junior staff members.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Full Job Description
Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger,
  • Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews.
  • Research and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal/external reporting.
  • Ensure general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance with internal controls and GAAP and that Internal control risks are tested and documented in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Lead internal and cross functional teams on major initiatives/projects including: process improvement, regulatory compliance/changes and policy recommending innovative solutions.
  • Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related quantitative discipline is required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years experience in accounting and/or financial reporting in a public accounting firm or in a large for-profit corporate environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills required.

Outstanding knowledge of business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web-based applications.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including presentation skills.

Additional Details: This is a hybrid position located in Collierville, TN or Plano, TX. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week. Role may be available for relocation.
