Senior Technical Project Manager – Surveillance

Location: Herndon, VA

About the Role

Peraton is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager – Surveillance to provide technical, project, and personnel leadership for the BNATCS Surveillance team.

 

In this role, you will lead complex technical initiatives while also managing and developing the professionals supporting the Surveillance mission. You’ll work across engineering, systems integration, testing, deployment, program management, FAA stakeholders, vendors, and other BNATCS workstreams to ensure technical activities are aligned, risks are addressed, and program objectives are achieved.

What You’ll Do Lead Technical & Program Delivery

• Provide technical and project leadership across Surveillance and supporting workstreams, aligning engineering, integration, testing, deployment, and program activities with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
• Translate complex technical and program requirements into clear, actionable work packages with defined responsibilities, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Coordinate technical and organizational dependencies across FAA stakeholders, vendors, engineering teams, deployment teams, and other BNATCS workstreams.
• Identify, assess, communicate, and drive resolution of technical, schedule, staffing, and cross-domain integration risks.
• Monitor program performance and provide clear, timely status updates to Peraton and FAA leadership.
• Facilitate technical reviews, planning sessions, stakeholder meetings, and decision-making forums.
• Ensure deliverables meet applicable quality, configuration-management, contractual, security, and customer requirements.
• Drive collaboration and accountability across multidisciplinary teams operating in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Lead & Develop People

• Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to assigned office personnel supporting Surveillance program activities.
• Establish priorities, assign work, balance workloads, monitor performance, and ensure employee responsibilities align with program and organizational objectives.
• Mentor and develop employees through coaching, regular communication, feedback, training, and career-development planning.
• Conduct performance evaluations, recognize accomplishments, address performance concerns, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Support workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, resource allocation, workload management, and employee retention.
• Partner with Peraton functional leadership, Human Resources, program leadership, and other managers to address staffing and employee-related matters.
• Serve as an escalation point for personnel, administrative, resource, and workplace issues affecting the team.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing environment where employees are empowered to contribute, innovate, and succeed.

Support Mission & Organizational Excellence

• Promote effective communication and collaboration across technical, program, and organizational boundaries.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, team performance, and overall program execution.
• Promote compliance with Peraton policies, security procedures, training requirements, timekeeping requirements, and professional standards.
• Maintain a strong focus on mission outcomes while balancing technical, schedule, resource, and personnel priorities.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

 

• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Twelve or more years of technical project or program management experience.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, managing, or leading professional office personnel, including assigning work, managing performance, mentoring employees, and supporting workforce development.
• Experience with radar modernization, FAA NAS systems, air traffic control integration, configuration management, vendor management, systems integration, or technical leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects involving multiple organizations, stakeholders, schedules, risks, and dependencies.
• Strong leadership, written communication, verbal communication, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, management, business administration, or a related field.

Desired Qualifications

 

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Previous experience managing personnel in a federal contracting or FAA program environment.
• Experience supporting large-scale system modernization, field deployment, or mission-critical infrastructure programs.
• Familiarity with Integrated Master Schedules, risk management, performance reporting, resource planning, and cross-functional team leadership.

Target Salary Range$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
