Overview

GovCIO is seeking a Technical Project Analyst to support the Technical Program Manager (TPM) on a fast-paced, complex federal technology program. The Analyst will own day-to-day program controls: maintaining trackers and artifacts, driving action follow-through across internal teams and subcontractors, supporting reporting and deliverables, and surfacing risks early.

 

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with technical teams and content, including IT and IT delivery terminology, system and platform context, and data-driven tracking tools. They should be able to translate that work into clear status, actions, and escalations for the TPM. Deep development/engineering expertise is not required, but technical fluency and the ability to get up to speed quickly are essential.

 

This position is fully remote located within the United States.

Responsibilities

Program Tracking & Controls

  • Maintain program trackers, including actions, decisions, risks/issues, dependencies, milestones, and deliverables, using established templates and standards.
  • Monitor schedules and commitments across multiple workstreams. Identify overdue, incomplete, inconsistent, or at-risk items and escalate them to TPM.
  • Incorporate changing priorities, schedule shifts, and new requirements quickly while keeping existing commitments on track.

Coordination & Follow-Through

  • Proactively follow up with internal teams and subcontractors to obtain status, inputs, documentation, and deliverables, and help carry items through to closure.
  • Support customer coordination as directed within appropriate communication boundaries.
  • Escalate matters requiring program judgment, interpretation, or commitments to TPM.

Meetings, Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare agendas and materials for internal, subcontractor, and customer meetings as designated
  • Capture decisions, actions, owners, deadlines, dependencies, risks, and open questions, then update trackers and follow up through completion.
  • Draft and assemble recurring and ad hoc status reports, presentations, deliverables, and structured documentation such as minutes, SOPs, and executive materials for review.

Tools, Data & Process Improvement

  • Maintain tracking and reporting solutions in Excel, SharePoint, and related Microsoft 365 applications, including lists, libraries, dashboards, and data validation.
  • Identify potential opportunities to streamline recurring coordination and process automation (e.g., Power Automate) and assist in maintaining existing workflows.
Qualifications

 

 

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor's with 8+ years (or commensurate experience) in Business Administration, Information Technology, Project Management, Management, Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

 

  • CertificationsPMP, CAPM, CSM, SAFe, or similar are preferred but not required.

Clearance Required: Public Trust

  • Experience in project/program coordination, PMO support, program operations, or business analysis in a fast-paced, technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, deadlines, and information streams with strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining program artifacts such as action/deliverable trackers, risk/issue and decision logs, and schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn technical discussions into clear actions, owners, deadlines, and dependencies.
  • Working familiarity with IT delivery concepts (e.g., Agile/SDLC, system and platform terminology) and comfort working alongside technical teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting), as well as SharePoint and common collaboration tools.
  • Sound judgment on when to act independently, gather more information, or defer to program leadership, along with the ability to communicate professionally with senior stakeholders within role boundaries.

Preferred Skills and Experience

 

  • Experience coordinating across internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, or multiple workstreams in support of Program Managers or senior leaders.
  • Exposure to Power Automate, Power BI, or similar workflow automation and reporting tools.
  • Experience with SharePoint or Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience with diagramming and advanced data tracking tools (e.g., Visio, Smartsheet, Jira, MS Project).
  • Experience within the VA or federal government contracting space.
