Full Job Description
Meta is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead portfolio-defining programs across a highly complex and ambiguous technical domain. In this role, you will partner directly with organization leaders to set technical strategy, drive cross-functional alignment, and deliver programs that shape the long-term direction of Meta's engineering and product investments. You will serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader, bringing clarity to the most difficult problems and building the program infrastructure that enables entire organizations to move faster and with greater confidence.

Responsibilities

Partner with organization leaders to define and drive technical strategy, program roadmaps, and long-term organizational priorities across a portfolio of highly complex, cross-functional programs
• Translate ambiguous technical challenges into structured program plans with clear milestones, success metrics, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies
• Serve as a subject matter expert consulted by engineering and cross-functional leaders on technical direction, architectural trade-offs, and program sequencing
• Identify systematic technical risks and opportunities across the program portfolio and drive proactive resolution in partnership with engineering and product leadership
• Build and maintain best-in-class communication frameworks that bring clarity to technically complex topics for audiences ranging from individual contributors to executive leadership
• Anticipate and mitigate cross-organizational conflicts, close alignment and commitment gaps, and drive decisions that unblock critical workstreams with confounding factors such as undefined goals, new technology integration, or aggressive schedules
• Develop playbooks, program templates, and best practices that improve execution efficiency across the broader Technical Program Management community
• Leverage AI tools and workflows to redesign program operations, accelerate analysis, and drive measurable improvements in delivery quality and speed
• Represent the Technical Program Management function in company-wide and organization-wide forums, contributing to hiring, planning, and community-building initiatives
• Evaluate program direction across the portfolio, including launching new initiatives and sunsetting programs when appropriate, based on organizational priorities and mission alignment

Minimum Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering program leadership, or a related role combining deep technical depth with cross-functional program execution at scale
• Experience leading portfolio-defining programs spanning multiple engineering organizations, with demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, undefined goals, and complex interdependencies
• Experience partnering with director-level and above engineering and product leaders to set technical strategy, influence roadmaps, and drive organizational alignment
• Experience designing and implementing program structures, risk management frameworks, and communication strategies adopted across an organization
• Experience identifying and resolving systematic technical risks across large, complex program portfolios with cross-organizational impact

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing programs involving new technology integration, including defining success metrics and navigating technical uncertainty in rapidly evolving domains
• Demonstrated ability to represent a program management function externally or in company-wide forums, influencing policies and practices beyond a single organization
• Track record of creating communications, playbooks, or frameworks that serve as long-term organizational references due to their clarity and strategic value
• Experience building and scaling AI-integrated workflows that deliver measurable improvements in program execution quality and efficiency
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
