Full Job Description
Job Description

The Technical Product Owner, Data & Payments Technology, owns and prioritizes the enterprise data product backlog and translates business priorities into a unified, outcome-driven roadmap for execution by the Data Engineering team. The role serves as the primary liaison between business data consumers, embedded analytics teams, and engineering teams responsible for data models, views, and pipelines. The position partners with stakeholders across Onboard Revenue, Shore Excursions, Photo, Revenue Management, Finance, Contact Center, Sales, and CRM to align a multi-year roadmap to measurable business outcomes. The role also supports the payments platform backlog, representing approximately 25% of scope. Success requires strong product-owner discipline, working knowledge of Snowflake, Oracle DB, Informatica, AWS, and related analytics platforms, and the ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior business stakeholders.

Here's a summary of what Princess is looking for in a Technical Product Owner, Data & Payments Technology. Is this you?

Responsibilities:
  • Own, groom, and prioritize the enterprise data product backlog, sequencing work by business value, dependencies, and multi-year priorities. Establish transparent intake and triage practices to ensure competing demands are evaluated against enterprise value.
  • Partner with business stakeholders across priority consumer domains to capture outcomes, define priorities, and maintain a single business-driven data roadmap for working-level and executive forums.
  • Serve as Product Owner for the Data Engineering team by writing clear epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, and by leading agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Drive cross-platform data delivery and adoption by managing dependencies and data contracts across Snowflake, Oracle DB, Informatica, AWS, Salesforce, and Adobe; prioritize data models and semantic views consumed by analytics teams using tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Own and prioritize the payments platform backlog as a secondary scope, partnering with payments product and operations stakeholders to translate roadmap priorities into engineering-ready work aligned to cost, resiliency, and revenue-protection objectives.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Scope: This role sits within Business Technology Enablement and operates between enterprise data producers and business data consumers. It owns a single, business-driven data roadmap across priority consumer domains and supports the payments platform as a secondary scope. The role influences how data-engineering capacity is prioritized and how data products are delivered and adopted across shipboard and shoreside business areas.
  • Problem solving: Translates competing, multi-year business priorities into a sequenced roadmap tied to measurable outcomes. Requires structured analysis of business demand, dependency mapping across Snowflake and connected systems, and disciplined prioritization to direct engineering capacity toward the highest enterprise value.
  • Impact: Directly influences the value delivered from enterprise data-engineering investment by aligning backlog priorities to revenue, margin, resiliency, and operational outcomes. Poor prioritization may result in wasted engineering capacity, delayed delivery, and deferred business value.
  • Leadership: Leads through influence with no direct reports. Facilitates alignment across engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and senior leaders through strong communication, negotiation, and product-management discipline.

For all roles:
  • Knowledge: Understanding of workplace policies and procedures / Familiarity with team collaboration tools and techniques.
  • Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Abilities: Ability to maintain reliable and consistent attendance / Capacity to be punctual and meet deadlines / Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and work as part of a team / Demonstrated professionalism in all interactions and tasks.

Essential/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of product owner / product management experience on enterprise data, analytics, or platform programs.
  • Preferred: CSPO / PSPO or equivalent product-owner certification.

Essential experience required:
  • Demonstrated ownership of enterprise data or platform roadmaps where core platforms include Snowflake, Oracle DB, Informatica, and AWS.
  • Working knowledge of modern data architecture - data warehousing, ELT/ETL, dimensional and semantic data modeling, and data governance.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake core components (virtual warehouses, roles / RBAC, data sharing) and native AI features (Cortex).
  • SQL literacy sufficient to interrogate data, validate outputs, and converse fluently with engineers.
  • Experience partnering with BI / analytics teams and front-end tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Proven ability to build and sustain trusted partnerships with senior business stakeholders up to VP level.
  • Strong Agile/Scrum discipline and fluency with backlog-management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with executive-forum presence.
  • Exposure to payment platforms and flows (acquiring, tokenization, orchestration) is advantageous.

Travel: Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Princess office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
