Full Job Description
What's the role?

Modern Campus is seeking a Technical Product Manager to support two engagement-focused products: Modern Campus Message and Modern Campus Involve. In this role, you will serve as the agile product owner for scrum teams building solutions that help institutions improve student communication and engagement.

This role sits at the intersection of product strategy, technical execution, and customer experience. You will partner closely with Product Leadership, Engineering, UX, Customer Success, Services, and Go-to-Market teams to translate institutional needs into product capabilities that create real user and commercial value.

The ideal candidate combines AI powered product skills with technical curiosity and a deep interest in how digital engagement platforms can improve outcomes in higher education. Experience in SMS products or Salesforce integrations is a definite benefit.

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for Message and Involve, ensuring alignment with roadmap goals, customer needs, and technical dependencies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on the development of a product roadmap that meets customer and business needs.
  • Translate strategic initiatives into clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and product requirements and collaborate with engineering to build using agentic tools.
  • Partner with Engineering and QA to validate feasibility, quality, edge cases, and release readiness.
  • Support the evolution of Message across communication workflows, campaign automation, AI-assisted engagement, integrations, segmentation, compliance, analytics, personalization, and mobile experiences.
  • Support the evolution of Involve across student organization management, event workflows, co-curricular tracking, participation analytics, campus discovery, process automation, and mobile engagement.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate product documentation, prototyping, feedback synthesis, and workflow design, while identifying responsible opportunities to introduce AI-enabled product capabilities.
  • Gather customer and market insight through customer calls, support escalations, implementation reviews, usage analysis, and competitive research, and turn those insights into actionable product improvements.
  • Support internal teams with product training, rollout readiness, and clear communication across releases.

What Success Looks Like

  • Timely delivery of roadmap initiatives that drive financial outcomes
  • Strong adoption and utilization of new features
  • Reduced support escalations and implementation friction
  • Positive customer satisfaction and retention trends
  • Effective use of AI tools to improve product team productivity

What you offer...

  • Ability to break down complex workflows into actionable requirements and user stories
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms, APIs, integrations, and modern web applications
  • Familiarity with CRM, SIS, authentication, analytics, and event-driven systems
  • An understanding of SMS platforms and products
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience using generative AI tools for product documentation, prototyping, analysis, or workflow automation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related education + experience
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in Technical Product Management, Product Ownership, or Business Analysis in SaaS or B2B technology environments
  • Hands-on experience working within agile scrum teams
  • Experience using AI tools to improve product management workflows, documentation, prototyping, or research synthesis
  • Experience writing detailed product requirements, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education technology, student engagement, communications, or student affairs systems
  • Familiarity with SMS, engagement or community management platforms
  • Experience supporting products with mobile applications, personalization, or workflow automation capabilities
  • Experience with the salesforce ecosystem and integrations
  • Familiarity with accessibility, FERPA, communication compliance (TCPA - Telephone Consumer Protection Act and CTIA - Cellular Communications Industry Association), or student data governance considerations
