Nature of Work

Under general direction of the Engineer Chief, the successful candidate will perform technical and engineering-related work at the administrative/management level in charge of a section of engineering and technical professionals involved in regulating public electric and natural gas utilities. Duties will include but not be limited to the following: assign formal and informal work to staff members; monitor staff progress on assignments; approve final staff work products; conduct performance reviews in accordance with state policies; monitor staff use of time; address other personnel and staff matters as required; may be responsible for own case load, including high profile cases, in addition to administrative and supervisory tasks; may prepare written testimony and testify in cases; confer with members of other state and federal agencies; provide policy recommendations to the Commission; and perform other duties as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering.

OR

Substitution: Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university with a major in Civil, Electrical, Electrical Design, Mechanical, Chemical or Mining Engineering Technology.

AND

Experience: Seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in engineering.

OR

Substitution: Master's degree in engineering may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
Special Requirement: A valid driver's license is required.

Other Information
Preference may be given to applicants with 1) previous experience with electric or natural gas utilities, and 2) previous experience in management or supervisory positions.
