The Role:
  • Under broad direction, act as a key technical accounting partner supporting our global business with a focus on US GAAP for complex transactions within Caterpillar's captive finance subsidiary.
  • Lead the end-to-end Accounting Review of Legal Documents (ARLD) process, ensuring thorough review and assessment of the accounting and reporting implications, while maintaining strong governance, and compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements.


What You Will Do
  • Assignments and work require in-depth knowledge of US GAAP, accounting policies, and practices.
  • Maintaining records of organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing financial statements, footnote disclosures, and MD&A for inclusion in our SEC filings.

  • Effective Communications: Strong presence and ability to build trust through effective communication; demonstrated ability to lead business partners through the accounting implications of complex transactions.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Under broad direction, performs a wide variety of intricate and complex accounting tasks. Duties and responsibilities may include analysis of accounting related to non-standard transactions, implementation of new US GAAP accounting standards, providing US GAAP technical accounting support to global business partners, and SEC disclosure support.
  • Accounting: Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and broad understanding of accounting and business processes and systems. Demonstrated proficiency of MS Office 365 tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Outlook and Teams is recommended. Knowledge of automation and AI tools is a plus.
  • Financial Analysis: Applies a broad knowledge of advanced accounting methods and procedures. Assist in review of 10Q and 10K financials and provide accounting policy and technical accounting support.
  • Financial Reporting: Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting.


Top Candidates Will Have:
  • Advanced Technical Accounting Expertise - Deep knowledge of complex accounting areas (e.g. CECL, loans and leases, revenue recognition, fair value, consolidations, etc.) with the ability to interpret and apply guidance in a practical business context.
  • Strong US GAAP Knowledge - Proven experience applying US GAAP within corporate or public accounting environments, with solid exposure to financial reporting.
  • Robust Accounting Foundation - Bachelor's in accounting, or a related discipline with significant accounting coursework, underpinning strong technical capability.
  • Professional Accounting Credentials - CPA or CMA designation (or international equivalent), demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency and commitment to the profession.
  • Public Accounting Experience - Background in public accounting, ideally within a Big 4 or similar firm, with exposure to complex audits and financial reporting. A minimum of 6 years of exempt accounting experience is recommended.


Compensation & Benefits:

Summary Pay Range: $118,860.00 - $190,176.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
