JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Infrastructure Services Manager, the Technical Team Lead serves as the chief engineer and architect for Stamford Hospital's voice and network infrastructure environment. This role involves planning, designing, implementing, and supporting all network services and technologies, including the organization’s telephony and network systems, routing and switching equipment, Internet services, remote access solutions, and perimeter network security services.

The Technical Team Lead is responsible for designing and executing projects that achieve Stamford Health’s goals and objectives. The Technical Team Lead recommends and implements new technologies and processes to improve workflow and efficiency while reducing downtime and costs. The Technical Team Lead collaborates with the Infrastructure Services Manager to develop and implement technology and team strategies, identify and act on opportunities proactive maintenance and upgrades, and report on infrastructure growth and requirement changes. 


CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide technical leadership in designing and implementing enterprise network solutions using Cisco routing, switching, and wireless platforms.

• Architect and maintain secure network environments leveraging Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, and security services.

• Act as the senior escalation point for complex network and security issues, problem isolation and resolution lead. 

• Manage and optimize enterprise wireless networks using Cisco access points and controllers.

• Implement and maintain routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and advanced switching technologies (VLANs, STP, VPC).

• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce segmentation, zero trust principles, and compliance requirements.

• Oversee network monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning using enterprise tools.

• Ensure high availability through redundancy design, failover testing, and disaster recovery planning.

• Lead and deliver infrastructure projects aligned with organizational goals and timelines.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• 8–12+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.

• 2–3+ years of technical team lead experience preferred. 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Expert hands-on knowledge of Cisco routing and switching (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR, ASR platforms).

• Hands-on Cisco wireless technologies (WLC, access points, RF design) expertise.

• Deep understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).

• Hands-on expertise with Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate) and security features.

• Strong knowledge of network security (VPNs, IPSec, SSL VPN, segmentation).

• Experience with VoIP technologies (Cisco Call Manager, SIP).

• Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

• Working knowledge of network automation (Python, Ansible) is a plus.

CERTIFICATIONS (Preferred):

• CCNP or CCIE (Routing & Switching / Enterprise / Wireless)

• Cisco Wireless certifications 

• Fortinet NSE certifications (NSE4 or higher)

LEADERSHIP SKILLS:

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering teams.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

• Hands-on leadership with strong problem-solving skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Onsite site hands-on work required 

• On-call rotation required 

• The ability to lift equipment up to 50lbs required

• Evening, nights and weekend work required as needed
