Our Private Equity Portfolio Company practice serves both partnership and corporate companies, the majority of which are owned by Private Equity Funds. This particular role offers the opportunity to join the Partnership Tax team, a high-performing, high-growth team that advises clients on their tax strategy and compliance obligations using both industry and technical expertise with our cross-functional teams, especially our Financial Services team. Our professionals help guide their clients through M&A transactions and capital account analysis, all while delivering digitally enabled services in conjunction with our world-class tax technology offerings.
As a Tax Supervisor with RSM, you will be responsible for the following job duties which are focused around two core concepts: your technical & quality expertise and delivering excellent client service.
Responsibilities- Provide detail review and analysis of tax returns
- Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm
- Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, concerns, etc.
- May have people leadership responsibilities
- Develop, motivate, and train staff level team members.
- Performing, documenting, summarizing, and reviewing research conclusions regarding specific tax issues
- Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
- Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standard
- Assist to manage engagement workflow, engagement team resources, and engagement billing
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university
- Will have completed all educational requirements for CPA licensure eligibility in the state in which you'll reside or completed all requirements to sit for the Bar exam, by start date
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in public accounting with emphasis on taxation
- Experience preparing and reviewing returns with one or more of the following: S Corporation or Partnerships
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means
- Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast paced, client service environment
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer and other standard office equipment
- Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours including the ability to regularly report to a firm office location and travel to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work extended and/or non standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs
Preferred Qualifications - An active accreditation obtained, in process or willing and able to obtain one of the following: CPA, EA, or attorney license
- Advanced degree (Master's in Accounting, Taxation, or MBA)
- Experience with large or national accounting firms
- Working knowledge of tax code and compliance
- Familiarity with tax preparation and review processes
- Focus on M&A, ASC 740, multi-state consolidated C corporations, and advanced tax technology tools
- Deep partnership taxation expertise, capital account analysis, and complex provisions (704(c), 754)

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $82,400 - $155,700
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
