Full Job Description

This position can be based in our global operations center in Tampa, FL, or at the Dallas office.

General Description:
The Tax Manager position serves as the operational lead for the firm’s tax function. Working under the direction of the Tax Director, this role will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax filings, manage risk, and support strategic initiatives. The Tax Manager monitors tax law developments, maintains strong internal controls and documentation, and provides guidance to leadership on tax matters that affect business decisions.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

Tax Compliance

  • Manage preparation, review, and filing of corporate income and indirect tax returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and review deliverables prior to submission.
     

Tax Planning & Risk Management

  • Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for efficiency.
  • Monitor tax law developments and assess impact to the firm.
  • Assist with audits and manage correspondence with taxing authorities.
     

Financial Reporting

  • Support tax projection processes.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Partner with auditors and Finance on tax-related reporting.
     

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with HR and Payroll on compensation-related tax matters.
  • Provide tax guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Escalate critical issues and risks to the Tax Director.
     

Process & Team Oversight

  • Maintain tax calendar, processes, and internal controls.
  • Improve efficiency through process enhancements.
  • Review work performed by staff and ensure quality standards.
  • Expected to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and full attention to and engagement in work activities on behalf of the firm during business hours unless otherwise approved or required by applicable law.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, with a focus on compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in tax software; experience with fixed asset and accounting software is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, or Microsoft 365.
     

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of tax accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
     

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting
  • CPA certification is preferred.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
