Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Tax Controversy Manager to join our team in our White Plains, NY;Jericho, NY; New York, NY; Park Ridge, NJ; Chelmsford, MA; Needham, MA; Glastonbury, CT; or Wayne, PA. We will also consider remote candidates based in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Greater Philadelphia market. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing firm.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Researching Federal tax issues for clients including but not limited to Case law and Revenue Rulings that can be used to successfully respond to notices and inquired received from the IRS and or other taxing authorities
  • Enhancing tax functions through process improvements, technology optimization, and implementation of efficient compliance solutions
  • Collaborating across service lines to deliver integrated tax strategies and value-added client solutions
  • Representing clients in examinations, audits, and tax controversy matters before the IRS and also various state taxing authorities
  • Contributing to practice growth through business development initiatives, networking, thought leadership, and client presentations
  • Building, mentoring, and developing team members while fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and professional growth

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Masters degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience
  • CPA, EA, and or/ JD required
  • Experience in managing all aspects of Federal taxation and IRS audits from start to finish, including appeals and tax court petitions
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, initiative, and leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Shopify, Avalara, and Avatax
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and consistently demonstrates respect for others

Paid study time during work hours, additional paid time off to take your scheduled exam and a bonus paid upon passing the CPA exam.

Compensation for this role is determined based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to your relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Salary ranges are provided to offer transparency and may vary depending on final candidate qualifications and local market conditions. Please find compensation information below for candidates residing in the following market(s):

New York ranges are from $130,000 - $160,000

New Jersey ranges are from $130,000 - $160,000

Massachusetts ranges are from $130,000 - $160,000

Connecticut ranges are from $130,000 - $160,000
