Talent Buyer

NATURE OF WORK:

Responsible for the building of industry relationships, identifying talent, planning and execution of ticketed events, as well as responsible for managing the internal processes relating to these events. Works in conjunction with our promoters, marketing and production teams.

SUPERVISION:

Under the supervision of the Director of Entertainment. Employees may plan and arrange their own work according to event schedules.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Develop, build, and maintain strong relationships with agents, managers, promoters, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Oversee all aspects of event execution, including marketing, ticketing, and production for booked events.
  • Buy talent by leveraging relationships with agents and managers with routing and booking possibilities.
  • Respond to inbound requests from promoters, agents and artist management.
  • Follow up on leads from other talent buyers.
  • Networking and building relationships with agents, artist management and other potential clients. Maintain current client relationships.
  • Negotiate contractual agreements between the District and artist representatives, ensuring favorable terms and compliance.
  • Travel to seek new clients, projects, and partners as well as industry conferences and conventions.
  • Identify and research local talent to develop and curate standalone events and programing.
  • Cultivate and maintain a network of industry contacts to support business development initiative.
  • Manage event budgets to ensure financial performance and profitability.
  • Lead day of show hospitality processes for artists, promoter, and venue, while working with accounting on settlement.
  • Attend and provide on-site support for events.
  • Collaborate with marketing team on promotion and marketing of the event.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless event execution and operational success.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate event forecasts and financial projections.
  • Maintain and update event calendars for assigned venues.
  • Deliver and uphold high standards of customer service for clients, partners and attendees.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Performs related work as assigned.


SALARY AND STATUS

Exempt $77,133 - $107,987

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations or a related area.
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in music bookings, concert and or event industry.
  • Strong knowledge of music and concerts, both historical and contemporary.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • General understanding of ticketing systems.
  • Ability to work independently with high expectations for excellent performance in setup, guest satisfaction, quality decision making, safety, speed, accuracy and self-start projects.
  • Able to work irregular hours and weekend shifts as required.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to take initiative.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with clients.
  • Passion for the theatre, concerts, comedy, and arts.
