Role SummaryWe are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Systems Integration Engineer II to join our Platform Integration team as a cross-domain generalist. In this role, you will be crucial in integrating cutting-edge hardware and software components for our autonomous driving systems across various vehicle platforms, working wherever the team has the highest need. From sensors and diagnostics to middleware, data pipelines, and vehicle testing. You will gain broad exposure to the full Autonomy platform integration stack, help fill execution gaps across the team, and prototype tools and processes that improve how we debug, test, and release features. Over time, you will grow into a dedicated ownership role based on your strengths, interests, and business needs, while continuing to collaborate closely with adjacent integration domains.
This position requires a strong blend of hands-on technical debugging and an ability to proactively identify and resolve complex system-level issues in a fast-paced environment. Your work will directly ensure the functionality, performance, and safety of our autonomous features.
Responsibilities- Work with cross functional teams (Embedded, Middleware, Data Analytics, Systems, Validation, Service, Factory) to integrate hardware and software components (sensors, ECUs, middleware, data/telemetry, cloud services) on various vehicle platforms.
- Identify, document and highlight cross-functional gaps and dependencies. Proactively work towards creative solutions to resolve integration issues and ensure vehicle functionality.
- Assist with prototype vehicle bring-up and configuration for new platforms and feature programs. • Deep-dive into vehicle log data and source code if required to root-cause system-level issues and facilitate rapid issue resolution in collaboration with domain experts.
- Contribute to diagnostic integration activities, including ECU connectivity, DTC/DID/RID configuration, and basic UDS/CAN/Ethernet debugging.
- Support preliminary functional verification of Autonomy-related SW releases on various test vehicle platforms prior to hand-off to development & validation teams.
- Prototype tools and solutions to accommodate rapid development and to bring efficiency (IE. Python scripts and parsing vehicle data).
- Review vehicle data and correlate data with requirements.
- Contribute to integration processes, documentation, and best practices for how the team brings up platforms, manages test branches, and reports issues.
- Look for repetitive manual work across the team and help automate it, including opportunities to leverage AI-based tooling where practical.
- Develop a deep understanding of multiple integration areas and, over time, assume focused ownership of one or more domains aligned with your expertise and interests.
Qualifications- B.S in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis and task automation.
- Working knowledge of C++ for reviewing other developers' code and deep-level debugging/root-cause analysis.
- Direct, hands-on experience with automotive ECUs, diagnostic protocols (UDS, CAN, Ethernet), and diagnostic tools for debugging and data extraction.
- Proficiency with GIT and software repo management tools.
- Understanding of automotive hardware and software development concepts including continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) software development models.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment, proactively collaborating with other cross-functional teams.
- Strong working knowledge of automotive electrical systems and communication protocols (CAN, Flexray, Ethernet) and relevant debug tools.
- Hands-on experience debugging complex systems that involve multiple ECUs with interfaces to various vehicle sub-systems.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety concepts and testing-related safety procedures.
- Flexibility to travel domestically/internationally to support various vehicle-level integration and test activities.
- Clean driving record with professional experience driving prototype test-vehicles in test-tracks.
