ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Systems Engineer (Level 3) to join our engineering team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this pivotal role, you will hold ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity, architectural direction, and lifecycle engineering of complex, mission-critical systems. You won't just maintain requirements-you will lead design activities, formulate baseline architectures (DoDAF, SOA), drive integration strategies, and interface directly with government stakeholders, program overseers, and senior executive leadership. If you thrive in an empowered, highly collaborative environment where your technical leadership shapes national security solutions and mentors the next generation of engineers, you'll fit right in with Team Nyla.

The annual base salary range for this role is $201,000-$238,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

Required Skills

Architectural & Systems Leadership: Extensive experience driving end-to-end systems engineering lifecycles, developing system architecture designs, and implementing frameworks such as DoDAF (Operational, Technical Standards, and Systems/Services views) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Requirements & Allocation Engineering: Demonstrated capability eliciting, managing, deriving, and tracing complex requirements and error/process budgets down to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.

Technical Integrity & Governance: Proven success serving on Configuration Control Boards (CCB), managing baseline configurations, developing System Engineering Plans (SEPs), and assessing risks via Earned Value Management (EVM) and risk management plans.

Verification, Validation & Security: Deep background leading test/integration planning, interface control documentation (ICD), trade analyses, and supporting DoD Certification/Accreditation (C&A) and JCIDS document development (ICD, CDD, IA Strategy).

Information Assurance Integration: Experience developing derived security requirements for IA services (Confidentiality, Integrity, Non-repudiation, Availability) and basic access/crypto mechanisms.

Stakeholder & Executive Communication: Exceptional capability serving as the primary technical interface to government leadership, guiding user requirements, conducting Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), and briefing senior executives.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or Engineering Management, PLUS 20+ years of professional systems engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 25+ years of hands-on technical systems engineering and architecture experience in lieu of a degree.

Desired Skills

Hands-on experience applying validated modeling, simulation, and rapid prototyping tools to mitigate development risk and cost.

Practical expertise in real-time system performance optimization across non-functional constraints (Reliability, Maintainability, Survivability, and Vulnerability).

Track record of successfully mentoring junior and mid-level engineering staff across cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
