Job Description

This position requires the Systems Engineer to work with limited supervision as part of the Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) program team to provide operational and test support for maintaining the hardware and software platform for the FAA's information system.

Position involves information systems engineering, functional analysis of ATC/M system requirements, development, production, test, and evaluation of related information systems. Includes, but not limited to, systems engineering activities oversight, demonstrated expertise with new and legacy systems, technical alternative analyses, acquisition management of information systems, and information management tools.

The successful candidate requires systems engineering, software and hardware engineering, testing, integration, and operational support. The candidate will also need to provide site support, development, configuration, testing, documentation, risk assessment, evaluation, subject matter expertise, operations integration, and impact analysis to new system components or capabilities that affect the National Airspace System (NAS).

They will possess the ability to work integrally with Traffic Flow Management System program and sustainment offices to maintain the Traffic Flow Management-Infrastructure (TFM-I) enterprise information system for the FAA. Experience with TFMS is optimal with strong system engineering process knowledge.

Knowledge and capabilities desired include but are not limited to:
  • Linux/Unix, networking, Oracle WebLogic, Cloud, AWS operations and database administration.
  • Additional skills desired include Scripting language experience for Shell, Python and Perl.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience is required.

Must be able to conduct hardware evaluation and demonstrate ability to perform helpdesk ticket analysis, field/site issue support and troubleshooting. Must be able to plan, execute, transition, and integrate site support activities as well as perform system installation and checkout. Must possess ability to assist with testing, determine test requirements and create site-specific and enterprise records and other documentation.

Will be required to coordinate with FAA regional headquarters, service areas, logistics center, field offices, and other contractors working at FAA facilities and systems to ensure all necessary work is planned, communicated, delivered, installed, and checked out. Will coordinate with other system personnel to verify FAA systems pass acceptance and assessment tests to satisfy all the proposed projects/services at a specific site.
