Position Title: Systems Engineer III - Design

Position Location: Remote - work virtually from anywhere in the United States

JOB SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer III - Designprovides technical support to plan, schedule and execute design document deliverables for building automation system (BAS), electrical power monitoring system (EPMS), and software integration design projects in hyperscale data center and similar mission critical / technology sectors.

This Systems Engineer III - Designwill work with internal and external MEP/FP engineers, ICT engineers, equipment representatives, equipment vendors, BIM / Revit / AutoCAD production resources and client staff to ensure proper design and acceptance of Building Automation Systems.

The Systems Engineer III - Designwill receive general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. May work independently or under immediate supervision. May serve as lead on routine projects of limited scope.

This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist in Production of Building Automation Systems Engineering Documents (70%)

  • Support designs for DDC and PLC based building automation and electrical power monitoring systems for one or more projects
  • Support designs for controls network / system architecture including IT / OT requirements
  • Support selection of instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves and other field devices
  • Support creation of and review project book and sheet specifications
  • Support creation of and review sequence of operations
  • Support creation of and review system diagrams and points / alarm lists
  • Work with client IT departments to ensure safe and secure systems to meet best practices
  • Utilize Revit software to prepare drawings and visual aids


Construction Related Process, Deliverables and Submissions (20%)

  • Participate in planning and execution of Construction Administration (CA) phase activities remote and on site
  • Participate in building automation focused design reviews and page turns
  • Participate in internal and external quality control and peer reviews
  • Review and respond to RFIs
  • Review shop drawings and submittals
  • Review and complete punch lists and project close out documents


Reporting and Communication (10%)

  • Contribute to project communication and reporting
  • Prepare development of project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage personal hours using company tools

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (INTERMEDIATE LEVEL FOR ALL THE FOLLOWING)

  • Knowledge of designing building automation / electrical power monitoring systems
  • Knowledge of IoT or smart building solutions
  • Knowledge of Revit
  • Knowledge of Networking including Addressing, VLANs, LANs, Switches and Routers
  • Knowledge of opensource protocols (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP)
  • Knowledge of DDC systems including Distech, Honeywell, and Tridium Niagara
  • Knowledge of PLC systems including Schneider Electric and Allen Bradley
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment through effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace

TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Approximately 10%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states

  • Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on the destination and nature of the business need.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or related discipline

  • Two years of experience with hands-on engineering, programming, testing, validation and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure

78,750 - 95,812.50 USD per year (Remote (United States))
