Position Summary

The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing systems, equipment, and processes that support production operations. This role works cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, IT, and operations to ensure production systems are reliable, efficient, and scalable while meeting customer and business requirements.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, implement, and support manufacturing systems and production equipment.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and recommend system improvements to increase productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new equipment, automation, and production technologies.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, controls, and system integration issues affecting manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, process flow diagrams, work instructions, and technical specifications.
  • Support equipment validation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) projects and manufacturing process development.
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance strategies and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Ensure systems comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel when needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding equipment installation, upgrades, and maintenance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3-7 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, automation, and industrial control systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, robotics, or industrial networking is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software and manufacturing documentation.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automation integration and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and process capability studies.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and work around industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment
  • Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial equipment.
  • Occasional travel to customer or supplier sites may be required.
  • PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear is required in designated production areas.
